"Naptime"
The photo for this painting was taken in 2018 during my first visit to the Lewa Conservancy, Kenya. Lewa is known for its successful rhino program; however, this young male lion begged to be photographed. He was resting in the tall grasses almost asleep. He was about ten feet from my camera.

"Bathtime"
The photo for this painting was taken in Samburu, Kenya in 2018. The mother had three rambunctious, lively mischievous cubs. It was the tenderness and intimacy of this scene that moved me to paint this particular image. The cubs stay with their mother for eighteen months to learn to hunt and survive.
